Project highlight
The goal of this project is to use locally sourced natural materials, such as pine needles and fibers from the bhimal tree (Grewia optiva), to make useful, everyday items. Through "Ananta," I hope to turn these unprocessed materials into carefully crafted items that highlight Uttarakhand's history and create new business opportunities for regional craftspeople and artisans.

Process

The journey began by exploring the diversity of indigenous plants around Hanumati and Saroda village. The first step involved immersing the gathered stems in water, allowing them to soak for a span of 3 to 4 hours. This simple act held the key to unlocking the potential of the plant's natural fabric. With the help of a cutter, I delicately scraped away, revealing the hidden fibers within. In the end different methods have been experimented to make a rope of the collected fiber.
